Events include a re-dedication of the memorial to George Africanus;
an open-air service for the whole city in Old Market
Square lead by the Nottingham Association of Black Churches; lectures

Rufford Revealed: The history of the
gardens from Cistercian utility to Edwardian opulence
An East Midlands Study Day to be held on Tuesday 15 May 2007 at
South Forest Conference Centre, Edwinstowe and Rufford Country
Park. (organised by Leicestershire and Rutland Gardens Trust).
This study day, which will include presentations
and a guided walk, will give an opportunity for anybody who is
interested in garden history to find out more about the multi-layered

of th elife and works of one of Nottinghamshire's greatest literary
figures. Catering for all levels of interest the D.H Lawrence Festival
2006, set in the writer's hometown of Eastwood, is a must fo reveryone.

From Borough to City: Nottingham in the 19th Century
Nottinghamshire Local History Association has organised a day school
which will take place on Saturday, 25 March, 9.45-4.15, at The
Village Hall, Ravenshead. The speakers are:
- Nottingham: a century of change – Geoffrey Oldfield
- The old staple industries: hosiery and lace –Professor Stanley
Chapman
- Architecture in the 19th century – Ken Brand
- Slums, lace and the occasional riot – Chris Weir

ENTHUSIAST DAYS – at Newark Air Museum
Due to the tremendous success of the first two Enthusiast Days,
Newark Air Museum has just announced that additional
dates have now been fixed for Tuesday 18th October 2005 and Tuesday 8th November 2005.
Places are only available by pre-booking and the all-inclusive
entrance fee is £15 per person. On each day
participants will be greeted with a welcome snack
before being taken in small escorted groups onto various museum aircraft
including: Hastings, Shackleton, Varsity, Vulcan, Canberra& Phantom Simulator.
A special part of the each day will be a behind the scenes tour
to see “
missing airframes” i.e. those undergoing restoration or that
are in long-term storage around the site. After the
tour, participants will be free to wander around the
extensive museum site at their leisure. Each Enthusiast Day
will be limited to just 12 participants, although further dates
should be confirmed later.
Spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis, depending
on the date on which booking forms are received. Possible
participants can obtain further details and a Booking
