Investigation of archaeological features around the base of an earthwork assumed to be a motte and bailey castle, though the excavation did not confirm this identification. Saxon and early medieval pottery, parts of a 12th century structure, two large 12th-13th century boundary ditches and banks, and evidence of medieval metalworking were uncovered.
