Twelve individuals are mentioned, including the professional astronomers Norman Robert Pogson (1829-1891) and John Russell Hind (1823-1895); and the amateurs Robert White (1694-1773), Edward Gregory (1744-1824) and Joseph Whitehead (1784-1811). Collectively, these observers represent more than 300 years of local astronomical history, most of which is poorly documented.
